Aging and Virtually All Chronic Diseases Are Related
Aging and age-related diseases are driven by the same biology shown in the diagram. Medical science has advanced so much that we now have proof that optimal medical treatment using the green boxes in the diagram prolongs life in patients with type 2 diabetes when compared with usual care. Another study comparing optimal medical treatment (OMT) vs usual care in patients with stable heart artery disease proved a 90% reduction in all-cause and cardiovascular deaths. OMT also dramatically reduces heart attack, stroke, and the need for dialysis in high-risk patients. It achieves these things at lower cost.
OMT prolongs healthy life and reduces all-cause and cardiovascular deaths because the same biology causes aging and chronic diseases. This entire site is dedicated to helping everyone understand what OMT is and why it is worth your time. We started out by discussing the relationships between aging, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Over the last couple of weeks, we have reviewed how excess oxidants, switching on mTOR, and switching off AMPK cause heart attacks, angina, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, cancer, autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, depression, anxiety, and preeclampsia. I have been working to understand these things twenty years and 20,000 hours. I still learn more most days. We can all learn more and teach each other.
I have struggled to find an exception to this rule. Aging and chronic diseases are related. OMT interventions interfere with the biology that causes both. They protect every organ and cell in the body. OMT is the easiest path to better health at lower cost. Each day I become more convinced that I have worked out a unifying hypothesis of chronic disease and aging. OMT is so effective and inexpensive that we could provide it to every American and save money doing it.
