Forget About Botox Injections, Facelifts, and Spider Vein Treatments
He’s 30, She’s 60: But You Would Never Know
Please watch this TED talk. Diet, exercise, and optimal medical therapy meds tamp down the genes that make us age. Best practice OMT slows aging and delays chronic disease. The insulin receptor gene in humans is like the daf-2 gene in roundworms. If you have extra abdominal fat, you are insulin resistant. Insulin does not work as well for you, and your insulin level must be three times higher than in a thin person to maintain the same sugar level in the blood. So, you age faster and develop chronic disease sooner. If heavier patients are drinking soda with sugar, eating sweets, and carbs they need higher insulin levels to use those calories and they need more insulin if they are diabetic. Those patients age faster and die sooner. Sun exposure causes the skin to age faster. Tobacco smoke actives the same gene pathways to make us age faster. A better diet, not smoking, and using optimal medical treatment medications like lisinopril, statins, metformin, eplerenone, and empagliflozin block these aging gene effects to truly help us stay younger longer.
Dr. Kenyon was talking about really slowing aging. She explains the impact like this: “This is what's really cool: it's aging more slowly. It takes this worm two days to age as much as the normal worm ages in one day. And when I tell people about this, they tend to think of maybe an 80 or 90 year-old person who looks really good for being 90 or 80. But it's really more like this: let's say you're a 30-year-old guy -- or in your 30s -- and you're a bachelor and you're dating people. And you meet someone you really like, you get to know her. And you're in a restaurant, and you say, "Well how old are you?" She says, "I'm 60." That's what it's like. And you would never know. You would never know, until she told you.” Dr. Kenyon gave this talk ten years ago. This science has really advanced since then.
There is a ton of research on this topic, but it has not been translated for your benefit. We have been working hard to get there and there is proof that aging can be slowed, and chronic illness delayed. Wouldn’t you rather put off the day when you need botox, facelifts, and spider vein treatments? Spread the word. We can do this now.
