I live in California. I work for a Fortune 500 company on the East Coast in sales that involve almost constant worldwide travel. My blood pressure was very high at 170/100 and I knew that this was a real threat. My company recommended a doctor near corporate headquarters. I saw him and he stressed how important it was to get my pressure down quickly. His nurse gave me a blood pressure cuff that reported my readings back to the practice automatically. Based on the readings, she contacted me with a medication adjustment every few days. Within two months, my blood pressure was 130/80 or less consistently after only one office visit. When I returned to the office in six months on a visit to headquarters, my blood pressure was still well controlled, and it has remained so. High blood pressure and related diseases can be easily treated remotely which could be very valuable in rural and disadvantaged areas where transportation is a problem. We don’t have patient-centered care yet. Are you interested in getting there?

Very interesting! The first time I realized I had high blood pressure I was at work. Some of my co workers were checking their blood pressure so I thought I would check mine. I even joked with them saying, " want to see what a good B/P looks like!" Ha! Mine was 200/110....... not believing it I rechecked it and it was even higher. I immediately made a call to my primary and got an appointment the next day. Several years later and several tweaks my B/P is finally under good control. Now that I am on a weight loss and more active lifestyle I am hoping that when I see my doctor again it will be even better.
