Despite all the challenges we face as individuals there are still things to be very thankful for in medicine. Thousands of doctors, nurses, and physician assistants in primary care are taking the time to develop relationships with their patients. They provide the care that patients with chronic disease need in spite of a broken system that punishes them financially. Hundreds of professionals like those in the Moving to Value Alliance are working to change the system to provide longer healthier lives at lower cost. I am personally thankful to individuals like Brian Klepper, Jerry Reeves, Jerry Miller, Justin Davis, David Carmouche, and Chuck Smithers who have been mentors to me and supported me in my efforts to make a contribution. Let’s take a break for the holiday and I will start posting again on Monday. Have a great Thanksgiving and thank you for your support.
