The dietary choices and exposures of my grandmother and mother prior to and during pregnancy—along with my own choices—impact my chances of having diabetes, heart disease, or cancer. Check out this wonderful Ted Talk by Dr. Ken Thornburg of the Oregon Health Science University. Fast food and processed food switch on genes that should be switched off and that increases oxidant production to cause chronic illness and make us age faster. Our children —on the current path— will be the first generation of Americans that do not live as long as their parents. Lisinopril, losartan, statins, metformin, empagliflozin, spironolactone, eplerenone, eating real food, and exercise reduce oxidant production and damage from inappropriately switched on genes. These are epigenetic changes— changes of which genes are switched on and switched off. We can protect our children now. Will we?

Thank you for this interesting article and video. I forwarded it to my grand daughter. She is into healthy eating habits and is a runner. I have always encouraged my kids and her to eat healthy. This video was very enlightening.
