Discover more from Slow Aging and Delay Chronic Disease Development
Check out this brilliant video from NOVA. The DNA in every cell in the body is the same, but our cells have very different functions. Think of teeth, hair, and eyeballs. Even more strikingly, chronic diseases are much less often due to abnormal genes, they are due to normal genes that are inappropriately switched on or switched off. This kind of gene regulation is called epigenetics and it is essential for the development of chronic diseases. This is the new frontier of medicine with tremendous implications for living healthier longer. Even more importantly, if a youngster becomes overweight prior to having children, their kids have a greater chance of developing diabetes and heart disease. This video is definitely worth your time. If you are in healthcare, this science changes everything.
The Ghost In Your Genes: Epigenetics is the New Frontier in Medicine
It is so interesting. A couple of years ago (or longer) I read Pottengers Cats. That’s where I learned about epigenetics related to nutrition. I’ll watch the NOVA segment. I probably missed it the first time but now I don’t miss NOVA segments.
Fascinating frontier.
