Healthcare costs continue to be a major worry for most Americans. Of all their needs, healthcare is the one they have the most trouble paying for. Most Americans have difficulty affording medical cost and they delay or avoid needed care. One third take less medication than prescribed because of cost. These burdens fall disproportionately on minorities and disadvantaged populations. One fourth of families had trouble meeting medical costs. Half said it was a major problem. Forty-five percent are worried that healthcare costs could lead to bankruptcy. Americans have borrowed $88 billion to pay for healthcare. It is the leading cause of being referred to a collection agency. It does not have to be that way. Americans spend 20% of gross domestic product on healthcare. One dollar out of every five spent on anything—food, aircraft carriers, diabetes etc., --goes to healthcare. Citizens of other developed countries live longer for half the money. People live longer in Singapore for one fourth the impact on gross domestic product. We can have better health at lower cost now. Let’s get started.

Absolutely! The system is imploding in front of our eyes, since the late 1990's.
