I have prescribed enough statin medicine to fill a railroad boxcar. I have taken 40 mg of atorvastatin myself for five years. I remember names now better than I did 5 years ago. I have never admitted anyone to the hospital with a statin side effect. I have admitted many to the hospital for strokes because they did not get a statin. I have seen very few issues with memory and statin treatment. In the middle-aged person with memory issues related to a statin, they disappeared upon stopping the drug. Older patients on statins have better memory than those not taking the medication. Testimonials have very limited value. It is the scientific evidence that counts. Patients with a high risk of vascular events are much more protected on optimal medical therapy that includes a statin. The evidence is crystal clear
