There are many organizations in the United States that hold themselves out as advocacy organizations for better care for patients, but is that what they are really about? Here is a quote from KFF Health News. “Pharma (drug) money is all over the place — in universities, companies doing continuing medical education for doctors and in prominent patient advocacy organizations that are household names across America.
Apart from the patient advocacy groups staying quiet about some things, like drug prices, they end up being noisy about other things, like getting governments or insurers to cover the costs of the new, incredibly expensive drugs for specific conditions. They are more likely to be seen as “credible” and “unbiased”, as they ostensibly represent the patient perspective, but to my eye it seems a lot of them are funded (and covertly supported, in the administrative sense) by Big Pharma. I’ve often wondered how any group of people with a given disease might suddenly become aware of the new, fabulously effective, fabulously expensive drug that just appeared on the market, but it becomes a lot clearer when you realize that the drug companies are telling them what to think.
You are entirely correct. They advertise the very expensive drugs. There is no one to advertise the more effective generic medications that are more effective.
Precisely asked questions, Bill. The American 19-20th Century Analog Unscalable, irresponsible, unaccountable “late-stage-sickness-seeking-profiteering kabuki dance theatrics” sponsored by the Medical Industrial Complex is the root cause of the ills of our failed “healthcare system.” The corrupt pay to play schemes must end to save ourselves from the premature death and multi trillion dollar financial collapse destruction the American people are facing!
Yes: The government and advocacy organizations are not going to make healthcare better. We must save ourselves. And I appreciate the organization you recommend: no money from Pharma.
When Un-countered, Rent seeking gains can always out lobby earnings and lead to the current cascade of earnings taxes and rent-seeking subsidies, which is an economic endgame.
You will be happy to know today I encouraged a veteran who has a belly and high blood pressure to ask for losartan!!! We have to communicate this to patients.
I am open to all information however I used to follow him but he is shady so stopped reading his stuff. I do have issue with P though but not for his reasons. This simply allows too much breakthrough you get COVID then you pay for pavloxid so you become a revenue stream. The vaccine did save lives but we have been exposed to it so much it just doesn’t work anymore so I took 4 of Novavax and have been directly exposed multiple times and so far remain negative. Good luck. Stay healthy

The corporations knowingly develop a product based on profit. It’s not based on what is best for patients
Well I think it will lead to loss of insurance when these expensive drugs are prescribed as in Medicare. We will end up with cuts to care.

Thanks Elsa. I appreciate your affirmation.
Outstanding. 100%
Bad money drives out good
Rent seeking drives out earnings
Patent income is largely rent-seeking
