Every other developed country in the world negotiates drug prices on behalf of its citizens. The US has not. Here is a summary from AARP of the provisions in the legislation passed by the senate this week to negotiate drug prices. It is a good start.
Looking at PBMs drug rebates in 2021, according to TX data, only $11.9 M (0.2%) out of $5.7B Imanufacturers payments go back to patients, and the rest goes back to plans.
Thank goodness something has finally begun to happen. But I agree, far too little and it has and is taking far too long to become a reality. Glad this will be directly beneficial for your family. 🙏🏻
Great to hear from you Theresa. If it were not for Medicare, my family would have been bankrupt long ago and my wife would be dead despite the fact that I saved money, invested and did everything that I should have done.
