I became a teacher for 35 years, filled with a desire to improve the lives of children. I also was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. Reading provides more depth, but if you have not seen the movie, please watch it and recommend it. Adults who were not abused as kids have no idea what it is like. The movie is visceral. It helps the non-abused feel what abuse is like from the eyes of a child. I have run into many in the helping professions who share this background, but even so, most of them are unaware. It is always great to hear from you.
You rose above your circumstances. That is an awesome testimony to others like you! My grand daughter too! She has risen above as well. Making straight A's and making good choices in life. It can be done!
