This study in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that the presence of excess weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and smoking cigarettes in people under 18 lead to more frequent heart attacks and strokes before age 60. These factors in combination and in early childhood were even more dangerous. Heart attacks and strokes are rare in children but atheroscerolosis is present in the arteries of youngsters.
Excess weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high triglycerides are most often related to diet. Processed and fast foods loaded with sugar and carbs are addictive and aggressively pushed with advertising campaigns in children’s programming. This advertising should be outlawed. Fewer people smoke now because of similar advertising limitations. These addictive foods represent the same threat and children cannot protect themselves. We must do it.
So, if a person want to age well, they have to make appropriate choices early in life.
Yup. I see a lot of these young over weight people testing like they are in their 40s or even 50s, terrible!
