Terrific writing, Bill. I had no idea that the Chinese had carried out their own version of ACCORD. Extrapolate and use just a bit of imagination, and the message is clear: the Chinese over the long term will get healthier, the citizens of our great country may well get sicker. Trump’s regime will accelerate that trend, it would seem. Does not have to be that way, but the facts speak for themselves.
These two articles are from Nanjing which is on mainland China. They were written 15 years ago. They were published in the American Journal of Physiology Renal Physiology. These articles show that aldosterone increases oxidant production which activates the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The epidermal growth factor receptor the activates mTOR to support abnormal growth of cells in the kidney that are part of the development of chronic kidney disease. That is why giving eplerenone does not just lower the blood pressure, it blocks a root cause of chronic kidney disease and heart failure. Angiotensin II does the same thing. These were two of the articles that opened my eyes to the fact that lowering the blood pressure is important, but the way you lower it is even more important. Scientists on mainland China worked that out. It is extremely sophisticated science. I am a patriot. I love our country. I don't want China to dominate us. That is why it is so important that our leaders understand their capabilities and that they do not underestimate the adversary.

Well done
