A post about Women and Heart Disease in January 2022 generated an unexpected response. My neighbor Jean called and she said, "I think I may be one of those women." And indeed she was. She had repeated chest pain relieved by nitroglycerin and she had risk factors for heart disease. She has addressed her problem very effectively and is truly an inspiration.
She could only walk two minutes on a treadmill before. Now she can walk three or four miles with ease and she does so regularly. She has lost over 20 pounds. She is using intermittent fasting and carb restriction. She is really doing great. Now we have objective evidence that her heart has improved on the multifunction cardiogram (MCG).
Her original test is just below. As you can see, she had global changes in January. She had abnormalities involving the entire heart. In the second test below that, the poor blood flow has become localized which is a major improvement. She does’t just feel better. We have objective evidence that she is safer and less likely to have a heart attack. She has done a great job of improving her capabilities and her health.
Oops! I don't understand the severity scales. Jean's 10/21 has higher numbers for severity than the prior. But as you pointed out, there is no global, it is local. If course, I don't have a grasp enough of the meanings, although I think I get that the improvement has relieved her whole heart of the effects that now are more confined to the trouble spot.
I wish very badly this technology was being adopted - at least trialed - here in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho. It is so badly needed, along with the enlightened support and treatment arm. We have some new cardiologists at long last and they are taking patients. The cardiologist practices were overwhelmed and had to ruthlessly triage patients. The resultant patching up and not maxing intervention and especially follow on has poorer, lower quality outcomes. So many people have moved here the past 25 years and now 10-12k a month, so resources were stretched.
Yep! Thank you!
