You often hear that healthy food is expensive. Stanley Tucci has a series on CNN called “Searching for Italy.” It is an interesting exploration of that European country and it is very entertaining, but it is practical too. Part of the program is devoted to cooking authentic Italian food. Many Italians were poor when these recipes were developed and so the ingredients are inexpensive and the end result is delicious. This program shows you how to prepare these healthy dishes that are a great example of the Mediterranean diet.
I enjoy the program. My son just returned from Vicenza, Italy where he was stationed in the Army. I only got to visit him once, but I really enjoyed Italy even more than I thought I would. We ate a couple of times where the locals eat and it was great. We need to give people the tools to be healthier and food is a huge part of the solution. Great to hear from you.
Wonderful sofrito, the base of all things “Nanna”. I was raised on this and cannot get away from it. I intend to be a myth buster, healthy food need not be expensive, but it does require decision making, daily. Thank you for your post!
Thank-you! Looking forward to trying this & experimenting with your suggestions. Sounds delicious....and fun!
It is fun.
Lovely. Thanks for the referral. I cook like this all the time, too.
