The last post was about my class in medical school and the president of the class, David Mrazek, who was struck down by cancer at the height of his contribution to the medical community.
Hi Bill. This is a surprising connection. Have you investigated similar connections between optimal health and Musculoskeletal conditions? Keep up the good work! - Steve
I have. As far as I can tell, the same signaling is involved in aging and all chronic diseases. Knees with osteoarthritis don't wear out. The same signaling in this article causes programmed cell death in the cartilage cells of the knee.
Interesting, went down the rabbit hole briefly and found this: Fasting increases SIRT3 expression in white and brown adipose tissue (WAT and BAT, respectively) and overexpression of SIRT3 in HIB1B brown adipocytes increases the expression of PGC-1α and UCP1, suggesting a role for SIRT3 in adaptive thermogenesis BAT.
That's the idea. It is all tied together. There are levels of complexity around it but the diagram displays that central signaling that ties it all together. The Human Genome Project expected to find 80,000 genes. They found 20,000 and the same pathways are used in many different settings. We are build to be healthy but time and environmental factors change gene expression.
